Graphic Design in the 60's

The 50's saw many neautrel earth tones and film posters in their graphic design, and through the 60's these carried on, but designers like Paul Rand brought about LSD inspired psychadellic art work into record sleeves and posters. These switch completley changed how people at that time looked at graphics.

Designers and artists experimented with styles and shapes, with or without the influence of drugs.

I have already shown a snippet of Wes Wilsons 60's posters, but here is another image, it portrays the shapes, colours and mood of the design at that current time perfectley.
Other massive artists of that time are Keiichi Tanaami and Alton Kelly. Both of which are renowned for their stylish and radical visual expression.

Album Designs at a glance

I cant find who specifically did the designs for Jimi Hendrix's album, but have discovered an artist with a very similar style. His name is Wes Wilson.
 Will look more into it.

Brief look into The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Here I've drawn up a quick spider diagram looking out how the band The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed. I wanted to look more closely at this part of Jimi's life, because it is when his career really kicked off.

Six Flags - New Orleans

All three images found on a post about an abandoned theme park called Six Flags in New Orleans. I thought they fitted both the street art we've been looking at aswell as the psychadelic art of my personal project.
Really enjoyed this video.

What my blog is about

My blog is going to be exploring the theme of Jimi Hendrix, his life, music and art inspired by his massive impact on the music industry and peoples lives.

In the late sixties, Hendrix took psychedelic drugs along with a large population of the hippie world. I will also be looking at how this boom in drug use influenced the art world, through photography, experimentation and research into Hendrix, his lyrics and other things that inspired the way of life through the "Summer Of Love".
